PPG Championship Series Announcements
2014 Schedule Set To Be Announced Soon!
With the 2013 season coming to a close this weekend at Fontana, much concern is raised over what the schedule will consist of for 2014. The IRA can only announce for the time being that it will feature a 10 race schedule for 2014 and will open up with the race at Sebring. A 70:30 ratio of road and street courses to ovals will be a factor into the schedule adding some new challenges to the schedule for 2014. More details to come when signups will begin.
Exhibition Race at Le Mans To Run After Finale
The 2013 PPG IndyCar Series season will conclude with a promotional event at Le Mans in France. The series will also feature a standing start for the race which will be a common sight for some familiar road and street course races on the 2014 calendar. More details of the event to come soon after the conclusion of the race at Fontana.
Series Name Changed for 2014: PPG IndyCar Series Is The Name
The 2014 season features many new changes for the IRA and one of them will be that the PPG Championship CART mod series will be rebranded as the PPG IndyCar Series. The series will feature the same mod as the current PPG Championship Series, but with more races and more competition on the schedule due to popular demand. The series will kick off in mid-fall 2013 and will continue onto the 2014 racing season! Signups will be posted on raceday2011's channel.
Demax Wins Cleveland With Championship In Mind
There was VERY LITTLE time to celebrate the victory for the #10 Della Penna Motorsports group last weekend at Cleveland. While Eugene Demax scored a big win at Burke Lakefront Airport, all but securing his title hopes, Demax goes to Fontana with a 13 point lead over second place Joe Donohue. After much talk and interviewing, the IRA believes that this battle for the championship will be something that nobody's ever seen before. First off 9 drivers fighting for the championship and for a cash prize. Eugene Demax and 27 others will find out their destiny this weekend at Fontana. Tune into raceday2011's channel for complete stats and updates for the race upload.
Grand Prix of Cleveland To Pay Tribute To "The Kid From Brooklyn"
As the first IRA rfactor/NR2003 race to be run after the passing of "The Kid From Brooklyn" The DHL Grand Prix of Cleveland will feature two tributes to Mike Caracciolo. First tribute (if no caution) will feature a silent lap 8 in his memory and every commercial break during the Grand Prix will feature one of his famous rants. The IRA will continue everyday to remember "The Kid From Brooklyn" and he will always be a key factor in the growth of this series and its advertising campaign.
Vote For Your Favorite IRA Commercial!
After a spectacular showcase of IRA commercials during the Indianapolis 500, you the fans now have the option to participate in a fan vote for your favorite IRA commercial that was played this weekend. Robby Noonan said "We have a great team of editors and writers here at the IRA and we want the fans's opinions of what they like to see aired on their ipads and laptops. It truly is a great addition to our already huge organization." Voting for the IRA commercial will take place shortly after the race weekend on the PPG Championship Series webpage.
Trevor Harvey Takes Home the Win at Indianapolis
In a day dominated by the big teams of IndyCar racing, Trevor Harvey, the only LOLA chassis in the field driving for Davis Racing, took home the checkered flag. It marks the first time since 2004 that a non-Dallara built team has won the 500 and the trend of Firestone victories at the 500 continues. As the bagpipes played and as he took the sip of milk, Trevor Harvey has joined some of the eliete drivers that have won this great race. The IRA community welcomes Trevor Harvey into racing immortality. He will forever be known as the IRA's 2013 Indy 500 Champion!
Teams and Drivers Prepare A New Challenge at Indy
With the way the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach played out, there was some concern among the teams and drivers for what to expect for the Indianapolis 500 coming next week. The IRA officials took immediate action to all this by adjusting the fuel cells and a harder tire compound for the 500, which means there is only one pit stop expected for the 500, which will allow tighter racing but at the same time have the field spread out during the mid-way point of the race. The 500 mile odyssey is about to begin once again and next week we will know who's name will be put on the Borg-Warner Trophy
Seth Brown Wins The Inaugural Event from Long Beach
After a grueling a hard-fought grand prix at Long Beach, Seth Brown, driving in the Patrick Racing Reynard, took the first checkered flag in PPG Championship Series History. It was Patrick Racing's first win since Scott Pruett won in 1995. After a late race pit stop from Forsythe's Joe Donohue, Brown used his caution flag pit stop to give him the strategy he needed to cruise out to an easy win. His next task will be the 98th running of the Indianapolis 500. Tune in next week to see who will have their name and face engraved on the Borg-Warner Trophy
PPG Championship Series Roster Announced
After only an hour of the publish time, the PPG Championship Series has a full field of 28 cars ready to hit the track at Long Beach. The diversity of drivers blew the competition as we have drivers not only in the US, but also from Canada, the UK, South Korea, and Malaysia making it one of the most diverse series in YouTube history. With a full field, the series is ready to start its preseason testing and head over to the sandy shores of California for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach to start the quest for the ultimate championship.
Long Beach and Indianapolis Are Confirmed for the 2013 Schedule
For the first time since the open wheel split in 1996, the CART chassis and engines will take on the cathedrals of speed as they gear up for the Long Beach Grand Prix and the 2013 Indianapolis 500. Rumor has it that Texas will be the season finale but nothing is confirmed past Indy. The IRA is aiming for a street race on the east coast in Baltimore between Indy and the finale. Stay tuned to the IRA website for more schedule details
Commentators for the 2013 Season Announced
After much discussion, the IRA has decided its lineup of commentators for the 2013 IRA PPG Championship Series. Robby Noonan will be the play-by-play announcer along with his fellow IRA partner Brody who will provide analysis and start a new feature called "Hot Laps With Brody" where he will give us a tour of the circuit before each grand prix. Joe Donohue and Bryon LaFlair Jr will be joining the booth as well with their roles as color commentators. The newest member of the broadcasting team will be none other than Frankie DiSarlo joining Seth Dolby as pit reporters for the 4 races including the Indianapolis 500
